Overcast, cool, and drizzly means starting puzzle #2, sitting around
until noon, and checking out the craft fair (but no Teacher Kathy so we don’t
stay). We drive over to Katama to have
lunch on South Beach, only to find that the Katama General Store has a new
building and thus lost any remnant of general store charm. It’s just an upscale shop now, with a porch
and seating out front. You’re not
fooling us with that artfully rickety screen door, Katama General Store, we see
your chèvre and fancy chocolate and know you for what you are – an upscale
grocer.
Our picnic and beach walk are windy and grey, which is really just a
nice set-up for a nap.
Clam roast with local sausages for dinner, and then it is time to
initiate Izzy the Snizzy into Slapshot.
She finds it a little boring (“all hockey movies are just about
fighting!”) but the rest of us spend the next several days considering various
aspects of this cinematic icon, notably that, with apologies to Paul Newman, the
Hansons are really the stars of the show.
