Appendix
Peter’s ranking of Taos-area green chile cheeseburgers
1. St. Bernard lodge deck – the setting may have influenced
it, or maybe it was the fact that you could load on your own chiles, and blue
cheese. But this burger is far above the
rest.
2. Alley Cantina – pretty much on par w/ Michael’s.
3. Michael’s Kitchen – good, big burger, nicely shiny bun,
lots of cheese and chiles.
4. Five Star (a local – Santa Fe and Taos – chain) – distant
fourth, no excitement under that pale cheese, tried to make up for it with
fancy green chile aioli.
5. Sonic – well, what did you expect?
6. The nameless diner
near the Denver airport – what is this avocado masquerading as green chile?

[1] David is responsible for my fabulous haircut. He is also a great skier, and tells a very
funny story about Hondo. We think this could
be a spoken-word piece.
